    Default Awd lsx s10

I started this project with the goal of being cheap and fun with a JY 5.3l and a T5 in the 91 2wd s10. It kind of snow balled after I saw a TBSS trans and t-case on craigslist. I couldnt resist. So...here is the project so far, slightly abridged.

    The start:

    Cleaned up engine bay:

    Vinyl dyed IP:

    Painted cab and assembled:

    And serious direction change:

I had to buy a 4x4 frame, the one i bought came with a body attached:

Cleaned and painted new frame, installed body, engine, trans & tcase:

    New wire harness:

Some interior work, added blazer center console, still needs seat belts ad stereo:

I recessed the rad for more clearance, still need to repaint the core support:

Wiring continues, added some hoses, installed new door handles, locks, black bumper, and 3" blocks in rear (till i get springs), etc:

New stance with blocks and 3" keys in front:

Started body work on the hood and tailgate here recently, hood is pretty rough but hopefully I can save it:

Something tells me the previous owner of this hood was a little anti-social...

Jeep steering shaft installed along with headers bolted up and other misc items:

I sent out the ecu for a tune yesterday so hopefully I'll see that soon. I just need some trans lines, rad hoses and a little more wiring and I should be firing this thing up soon!

I forgot to mention, I installed a Thunder Racing cam while I had the engine on the stand. What does it take to break in the cam on an LSX?

    Nice work.

You don't want that cam to break in. It rolls!

Roller cams are hardened, so there is no need to wear in a pattern like the old flat tappet cams. Crank the motor with the fuel/ignition disconnected and the plugs out to prime it a bit. Plug everything thing in and fire it up!..
