Lol, that's what i'm saying.. Val's LT1 ran strong but just couldn't take the opti maintenance. We drove his car to the track in 1999 with slicks in the trunk and changed them there and ran 11.1 with a 4l60e trans in it and a 383 stroker, N/A. Car was fun, but when we got home, opti spark needed changing.

I've personally never had a problem with an opti, but high rpm kills them and I turn mine pretty high. Thats why I am making the conversion and ditching the opti.
The 96+ pcm only has tables to 7100 rpm as well. and the earlier pcms would actually just hit a wall at that rpm. With an LS1 pcm I wont have to worry about that limit, its better all around. Plus HP Tuners/EFI Live is 1000x better than tuning with C.A.T.S
X2 - but I like everyone else thinking my car is going to blow up if i rev over 6k
I also think auto cars with big stalls are hardest on optis - when high RPM is maintained the entire length of the track, that heat builds up.
sadly my car is in the shop for the same reason as that LT4
