We went to a local 1/4 mile track Wednesday night for some testing and tuning after a cam swap in our school's drag car. First pass out was a 10.02 @122MPH letting out at just past the 1/8 mile. Second pass sucked because the battery voltage was too low. So we cam back to the pits recharged the battery and went out and ran a 9.90 @135MPH. The Firebird has a 5.7 LS1 in it. Stock block, stock crank, forged pistons, crappy rods, stock 78MM throttle body and intake. it's got a set of procomp cnc 243 style heads. The final piece of the puzzle is an STS 67MM turbo making 9PSI. We know it needs a new converter and I'm pretty sure it's been ordered.
Fast forward past the sitting in the staging lanes bit, but do watch until the end. Our instructor's reaction is priceless. Next week we'll be racing the dirt car at a local track.
