    Default GM PEP vehicle questions

Hey, I've got a question about how the GM PEP program works. My father-in-law tagged a 2007 Aura greenline sometime last year and it is due to be available today. My question is how does this work? Does it need to be purchased? are they usually crazy cheap to buy (he seems to think so)? And how many miles are usually on PEP cars?

My buddy's parents used to do this
He would Pep them, then lease them afterwards and get a much cheaper lease.

I don't know if that is still there, but...I know you USED to be able to lease them

He needs to take delivery from a local dealer (used to be within 50 miles of his home/work I believe).
He can purchase or lease the vehicle from there. The price is usually set and non-negotiable, but he can work with the dealer on extras, etc.

PEP cars can have between 3,000 and 7,500 or so miles, there are different discount rates for more mileage etc.

This is how I bought my GMC, saved quite a bit of dough

well, the vehicle would be for me/my wife, but he would gladly purchase it in his name for us. The TBSS goes back soon, and the camaro is probably going bye bye, so we are wanting to get something soon. I guess we will have to see what kind of trade in we can get for it

When I used to do it, I would get a new truck every 6 months. The pricing used to be 18% from list for the "A" plan and 25% from list for a 3,000 mile car. There are different discounts depending upon the mileage when the car is delivered.

I would always buy the car, since it was cheap enough to turn over in the 6 months you needed to hold onto it. After the 6 months was up, I would sell it and get another one without losing any money, whatsoever.

Everything is based on the list price........

You still can lease PEP Vehicles, my dad has been doing this for over 10 years now between buying and leasing them.

Example, 04 TB he leased for 162 a month. The current Aura is around 190 a month.

The discounts aren't as big as they used to be though. The 7500 mile discount is less than half what it used to be IIRC.

If you go to the gmfamilyfirst.com website and login you can get to the Tagging system. It lists all the vehicles in the system, and how many are available for tagging.

The program has been changed recently, and now it sucks for leasing. The PEP drivers keep their vehicles for four months instead of three, so you are now getting 33% more miles on the vehicles. And, they got rid of PEP IV, so the highest discount now is PEP III.
